Monthly Blog Stats and Income Report – December 2023

While many bloggers only start sharing income reports once they’ve achieved substantial income, I aim to maintain transparency with you, my readers. I want to offer an authentic glimpse into the possibilities and challenges of running a blog in 2024 and beyond. Together, we can explore both the positives and negatives, learning together on this blogging journey!
This also serves as a way to hold myself accountable, ensuring I put in consistent effort and enabling me to track the blog’s progress over time.
Please remember I’m not sharing these income reports to boast or brag; they are for my own records and to help my readers better understand the blogging world, both positive and negative. There will likely be nothing to brag about for a while yet anyway 🤣
Let’s get into the stats for month 2!
December 2023 Blog Stats
Posts
In December, I only managed to publish three blog posts. Since it was the holiday period and I had a few projects to complete for my other business, I had a lower initial goal of 5-10 posts, but I am still a little disappointed that I didn’t get more done. I will try my best to publish more in January.
The best performing post in December was actually my Monthly Blog Stats and Income Report – November 2023, followed closely by I Need 500 Pounds By Tomorrow – 8 Legitimate Ways To Get Fast Cash
Traffic Stats
Traffic has increased since the last report in November, which is a good sign.
In December there were 67 users and 90 sessions. This is a slight increase on the 38 users and 67 sessions from last month.
Organic search has increased, which is a positive sign rather than having the majority of traffic from social media posts. A few of the articles which were ranking well last month have increased their ranking and are starting to get some good clicks.
As you can see there are not as many spikes in traffic now compared to last month when the only real traffic came from the social media posts. The organic search is now smoothing out the visits.
Similar to last month, most of the traffic originated from the United States, followed closely by the United Kingdom. I am happy if this trend continues.
December 2023 Income
Upgrademywealth.com made its first income in December 2023! I added Google ads in mid-December, which has already started generating some income.
It is only 8p, but we have to start somewhere!
I haven’t added any affiliate links yet and am still deciding when I should start this. I don’t think I have enough traffic to start adding affiliate links, but some other blogs suggest adding affiliates from the start, as just one click or signup can generate some income. I will look into this further in January.
What I Learned
It is possible to start generating income from Google Ads in your first month. The income will most likely be small, but it is good to see it is possible, and some sites may see even better results with more posting and promotion.
I tried to push myself to write more articles but was busy with my other business and had time off for Christmas. I have found that I put extra pressure on myself if I don’t hit my goals set at the beginning of the month. This will change going forward; it isn’t a race to get hundreds of articles posted; this site will grow at its own pace and in line with the extra time I can find.
December 2023 Goals – How Did I Do?
- Start to Monetise the site: ✅ This goal was achieved with Google Ads, but I didn’t start implementing any affiliate links.
- Write 5-10 Blog Posts: ❌ I only managed three due to time constraints and the holiday period.
- Start Publishing a few posts on Quora and Medium: ❌ This was not done. I didn’t find the time for this.
- Create a Start Here Page: ✅ I started work on this but haven’t finished yet.
- Designs Updates: ✅ I managed a few tweaks to the homepage, but there is still more to be done.
January 2024 Goals
The January goals are similar to December, since I didn’t have much time to complete them all.
- Look into affiliate advertising: I will do some research to see if it is worthwhile to add affiliate links at this stage with limited traffic and might add a few links across the site.
- Write 5-10 Blog Posts: This should be achievable in January.
- Start Publishing a few posts on Quora and Medium: I would like to get at least one post on each site to at least make a start on these sites.
- Create and Publish Start Here Page: I started this last month but would like to publish it in January.
